U. S. 1924 Peace Silver Dollar in Topaz Color Rhinestone-studded Bezel with Necklace Chain I obtained this 1924 U. S. Peace Silver Dollar coin pendant with vintage topaz (yellow-orange) color (November birthstone color) rhinestone bezel and triple link twisted rope chain from an antique dealer going out of business. It appears to have been in storage for many years. The pictures show details of the coin, pendant, and chain. The coin was not removed from the circle bezel in order to preserve the tabs on the back. ¶ Based on research with coin and vintage jewelry dealers, the pendant bezel and chain are probably from Providence, RI in the the 1950's when Providence was an important center for fashion jewelry manufacturing. So far I have not been able to determine a date when the coin was inserted in the bezel as it is such a unique piece. The coin has some free movement in the bezel. ¶ Based on my evaluation, and that of a coin dealer, the bezel is not sterling silver and the chain is not sterling silver. There are no maker's marks on the bezel. The chain seems to be some type of stainless steel as it does not show signs for tarnish or rust. The topaz/yellow-orange rhinestones in the bezel seem to be good quality and condition; they appear to be a type of glass. The bail with three topaz color rhinestones is formed on an S hook to hold the pendant and chain. This is a lovely vintage necklace. It is difficult to accurately show the topaz color of the rhinestones as lighting and color accuracy are difficult to control and the user's monitor will also allow for color variations. The color displayed may not be the same color perceived when looking at the item in natural light. It appears that this pendant is part of a collection which included birthstone colors. We were only able to obtain ten colors. Those listed for sale are the only remaining colors.
